The first days of dadhood

Kiki with Santa
Well, the baby has been home for a little while now. We were spoiled the first night she was home since Kiki pretty much slept through the night. She even slept through her feedings, which was interesting since she pretty much ate on auto-pilot.

That was the last time we got to enjoy that.

Since that wonderful night, Kiki has been a pretty normal baby in that she wakes up in the middle of the night for feedings and lets us know she is up by crying at the top of her lungs. Sometimes it is a gentle, tender cry, as if to say, "Mother... Father... my stomach is lacking in food. Would it be possible to get something to eat?" Other times, she throws a straight up rager, sounding like Godzooky on a bad day. The translation of which is probably something like, "RARAWARWARWRARRRRR!!! Food now! Kiik SMASH!!!"

Some might find this behavior to be shocking, off putting even. I pretty much expected this since I have seen all of the films in the "Look who's talking" series, as well at the films in the "3 men and a baby" series. You could say I have been ready for this my whole life.

As for night time feedings, my wife and I have sort of divided up the night into halves with each of us taking one of those halves so that the other person can sleep. It is really great having my wife with me on this. We seem to make a pretty good team. It is a great relief knowing that I can rely on her when I need her. I hope that I am doing a good job reciprocating that to her. I can only imagine how a single parent would cope with such a situation.

That is pretty much all I have at the moment. I included the Santa pic above because I really like it, and you can see that the baby was sleeping which is why Santa and my wife are smiling. Check out the flickr pool for more pics.

It's 2:22 AM where I am. I will try and post something more poignant when I get some sleep. It is my wife's shift now.
